Children's Day: The Tale of Momotaro (Peach Boy)

Join us for Children's Day (Kodomo no Hi) at Home, Japan’s national holiday where all children are stars and their happiness is celebrated!

Watch a theatrical performance and an animation story telling of the classic story, Momotaro (Peach Boy), and learn the Momotaro dance! Afterwards, create your own koinobori, or carp streamers, and don your own origami kabuto samurai helmet with Children’s Day-themed craft projects you can do at home!

Shichi-Go-San 2020

Shichi-Go-San

Shichi-Go-San (七五三, lit. "Seven-Five-Three") is an ancient tradition that dates back to the Heian period of Japan (794-1185).

Every year, we look forward to celebrating children’s health and sharing our joy with families through our annual Shichigosan (7-5-3) ceremony in collaboration with the International Shinto Foundation (ISF) at Japan Society. However, given the continuing global concerns around COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Shichigosan ceremony. ISF and Japan Society will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other to hold Shichigosan 2021 and future editions. Thank you very much for your understanding.

For questions, please contact jseducation@japansociety.org or 212-715-1275.
