The Art of Origami in Your Mathematics and ELA Classroom

[2-Day Workshop for Educators] August 1 & 15, 9 AM-4 PM

Looking for creative ways to teach math concepts?  Join this NYC Department of Education accredited one (1) unit interactive workshop designed to equip educator and adult participants with tools to bring the “real world” into the math classroom.  Participants will also hone lesson design and infuse lessons with deep cultural connections to Japan, its people, and worldview. Through the art of ORIGAMI (paper-folding), participants will learn to fold animals, boxes, and geometric figures that are used to explore and explain a wide variety of mathematical ideas, foster conversations about deep mathematical and literary concepts, and provide motivation for developing common mathematical and socials studies language.

Open to general public and educators: 1P credit available from the NYC Department of Education
Generous support for this course is provided by the US-Japan Foundation.
